The 2021 Recipients
Standout Senior Scholarship #1: Alyssa King
Alyssa is a senior at Stuart High School. She will be attending University of Nebraska at Kearney in the fall and plans on majoring in Political Science. We chose Alyssa as a scholarship recipient because she’s been able to maintain an impressive list of extracurriculars and a high GPA of 3.96, all while working two jobs most of her high school career and taking life’s challenges in stride.
A fun fact about Alyssa is that she recently won both a gold and bronze medal at state speech. 🙌Talk about an achievement!
When we asked Alyssa about her future plans and goals she said, “I plan to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney in the fall and major in political science and minor in Journalism. I hope to find myself participating in UNK’s forensics team, to continue my speech career. I want to graduate with my Bachelor’s in political science and work internationally in foreign policy. I think after some time traveling and doing volunteer work, I will enter law school, and become a criminal justice attorney.”
Standout Senior Scholarship #2: Haley Peek
Haley is a senior at West Holt High School. She will be attending Doane University in the fall and plans on majoring in Psychology. We chose Haley as a scholarship recipient because she will be graduating with a 3.94 GPA and an extensive list of leadership experience and honors. Not only that, but her character shines through in her community service and involvement. She also says, “I am respectful to everyone as well, it doesn’t matter if I’m a senior and ‘on top of the food chain,’ I still treat everyone the same.” 🙌
A fun fact about Haley is that on the volleyball team, she was selected to be team captain her freshman year. She was captain her junior and senior years as well.
When we asked Haley about her future plans, she said, “My future plans include attending Doane University and double majoring in psychology and sociology. I will also be a part of Doane’s Dance Team as well, and I plan to work hard in school and dance. After getting my undergraduate, my goal is to go to graduate school to earn my PhD. After that, my goal is to become a forensic psychologist or a crime analyst. I want to be able to help people understand how experiences push individuals to live a life of crime. Through this, I hope to spread awareness about signs to look for in adolescents, as to hopefully decrease crime rates.”
Educational Exploration Scholarship #1: Lexi Schroder
Lexi is a junior at Stuart High School. When we asked Lexi about her future plans and goals she said that being able to become a Physical Therapist Assistant and help people with torn ACLs, knee replacements, and many other things would be a dream come true. She loves seeing people recover from their injuries and go back to the things that they enjoy doing.
Lexi also stated, “After I finish college, I plan on coming back to a rural area where I can help people in my community.”
Educational Exploration Scholarship #2: Miya Carey
Miya is a freshman at West Holt High School. When we asked Maya about her future plans and goals she said, “I have a personal goal of being able to travel and teach with the YGB counselors. In order to join their team, you must earn a State or National Champion title. Improving my showing skills and being taught by them would help me achieve this goal. I also would like to take what I am learning and mentor younger youth who have an interest in the 4-H and FFA programs.”
Miya plans on using the scholarship to attend the Leggett’s You Gotta Believe Livestock Camp that will be held in Ord, Nebraska. “It’s a 2-day camp that I would attend with my Boer goats.”
Miya stated, “I would love to be able to attend this camp so that I may improve my goat showing abilities and enhance my 4-H career. As a freshman at West Holt High School, I have joined the FFA program and would like to continue to expand my livestock knowledge to grow my FFA career.”
I want to add that Miya submitted a very well written essay. 🙌
On behalf of Anchor ‹A› Digital Design Co we are very honored to grant these four scholarships and look forward to seeing each one of these students develop and grow their career over the years to come.
