Follow These 3 Steps to Talk About Your Business
Ask yourself the following 3 questions:
1. Who do you serve?
Example: I serve female entrepreneurs.
2. How do you serve them?
Example: My blog and custom design and website services.
3. What is their end result?
Example: A better business that helps them reach their biggest business goals.
Now, put it all together.
Example: I serve female entrepreneurs through my blog and custom design and website services. I help them build a better business so they can reach their biggest business goals.
What’s your why?
First, you might be wondering why this even matters. The answer is that people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it. When you share your why, you create an emotional connection with your audience. When your audience feels connected to you, they’re much more likely to purchase from you.
So why do you do what you do?

Ask yourself why you do what you do, and then repeat 4 more times until you’re really specific. I’ll show you what I wrote in my notebook when I did this exercise.
Why do I do what I do?
I love it. It gives me energy. I can’t not do this work.
Why does this give me energy? Why do I love it?
Because I know it makes a real difference for businesses.
Why does it make a real difference for businesses?
Good design and websites are powerful. First impressions are huge and we have 7 seconds to make one. In a simple glance or interaction with your logo, business card, website, etc, a person can know what you’re about and if they’re curious to know more, and maybe even purchase from you. A strong brand also develops an emotional connection with a person. When this happens, they become loyal to your brand. They become part of your tribe.
Why does that matter?
This gets you, the business owner, more customers in the door. You’ll generate more sales and revenue.
Why is this important?
With more sales and revenue, you can grow this business you love, this business you pour your heart and soul into. This business that supports you and your family, your goals and dreams. This business that pays for your daughter’s dance classes, or that bicycle for your son, or the family vacation you’ve been dreaming about for years. Those moments and memories matter. That’s the stuff that makes life meaningful and worth living.
